The Flyby 7/25/18 – Comic-Con Roundup

This week on The Flyby, Cranky T-Rex and Sarjex react to all the latest entertainment news to come out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.  DC basically had the place to themselves, and they made the most of it, dumping trailers for Aquaman, Shazam, their new Teen Titans live-action series, and all of the various Arrowverse shows.  The trailers show varying degrees of promise, but the information we got about Supergirl‘s next season certainly stands out by helping justify our decision to abandon that one for good. Speaking of things that eat themselves, we finally got confirmation from The 100 that...

The Flyby 7/18/18 – The Dark Knight Turns 10

On this episode of The Flyby, we take a look back at what is widely considered one of if not the best comic book movie of all time, Christopher Nolan’s second Batman film The Dark Knight, which happens to be 10 years old as of today.  Of course, Cranky T-Rex still thinks it and its bookends are overrated and that it ultimately led to the downfall of the DC Cinematic Universe. When we’re not talking about how Heath Ledger’s Joker is one of the greatest villain performances of all time, we’ll take a few minutes to discuss why Octavia on The...

The Flyby 7/11/18 – Ant-Man and the Wasp

Last week on The Flyby, we took a special look back at a massive summer blockbuster, aka Independence Day: Resurgence, which was a disaster movie in every possible sense.  So this week we’re going to go even bigger…by getting really small.  That’s right, it’s our review of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is the latest flick in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a sequel to plain old Ant-Man. Marvel hasn’t had very many stumbles, and both Cranky T-Rex and Sarjex dug Ant-Man’s first movie for being smart enough to tell a story that didn’t hinge on the destruction of a...

The Flyby 06/27/18 – We’re Back!

Cranky T-Rex and Sarjex return from a brief hiatus for a brand new episode of The Flyby, featuring our reactions to the last few episodes of Supergirl that we had to suffer through in the interim.  Mostly it’ll be wrapping the show up so that it never needs to be discussed again, with any luck anyway. Plus The 100 continues on chugging along, so there’s some of that to chat about, though Sarjex is starting to find the pacing of that show a little sluggish. And as a bonus, we’ll talk about The Incredibles 2, a sequel over a decade...

The Flyby 06/06/18 – Dumpster Fire

Well this week on The Flyby, the dumpster fire that is Supergirl continues to burn out of control.  Magically our heroes defeat Reign in the first 10 minutes, and then Kara decides to head on back to the last remaining chunk of Krypton to live for a while.  Why nobody seems to want to evacuate that place to a habitable planet on which they’ll have superpowers, we don’t know, mainly because the show doesn’t take the time to explain.  Probably because they used that time for another special edition of Guardian Sez.  This time James Olsen wants to talk to you...
